Visa Credit Card
Credit card applications come out of the mailbox by the handful. It's incredible how many companies are wanting you to take their offer for a credit card. But, those offers have a lot of small print hiding conditions to get those rates; woe to the person who doesn't read them and discovers those conditions by accident. First, the credit card business is one of the most profitable returns available to a banker. Hidden among the rates are penalties and fees that haunt the cardholder, should they miss a step in making a payment on time. Not only do many credit cards charge you a late fee (typically around $25-30), but they also raise the interest rate. Also, should you exceed your maximum credit limit on at least one major card, a heavy over-limit fee ($29/month in some instances) will be assessed on your account. Another place you get hit on many credit cards is when you take a cash advance through an ATM or other means. The rates are higher when you need to get cash as opposed to making purchase with the cards. Freedom Community Credit Union's VISA card has some important differences you should know about when considering a credit card:- No annual fee. Your Credit Union VISA card is absolutely free. It's free now and will be free in the future.
- No late fee. If you are late getting a payment to us, you aren't assessed a late fee, though we discourage the practice.
- No special cash advance rates. Freedom Community Credit Union doesn't penalize you for taking out a cash advance. Cash advance interest is assessed the day you get the advance (as opposed to the 25-day grace period on interest for purchases).
- Low over-limit fee. If you exceed your credit limit, our over-limit fee is 1/3 what many other cards charge.
- ScoreCard™ Program. With the ScoreCard™ program, you can earn airline miles and bonus points. For every dollar you spend, 1 point is earned toward an airline ticket or prize of your choice.
